Many people get injured and badly hurt at their workplaces or on roads every year. Sometimes they receive medical care to cope up with a permanent disability. Around the world, major deaths are caused due to unawareness of first aid training. According to statistics, most people are unacquainted with how to deal with injuries in emergency conditions either on roads or at any construction site.
According to the experts, major injuries at work site are caused by irresponsible workers, uneducated persons, untrained employees, misuse of equipment, poor maintenance of machinery, lack of awareness, without wearing a proper uniform or safety helmets and gadgets, defective old equipment, distracted working like diverting attention, talking, or texting, during construction. Risks and injuries at the construction workplace include slips, falls and trips, mishandling of chemicals, power tools, and wiring issues.
Mostly, the victims are alone in injuries, and being alone increases their chances of death. The disadvantage of this serious situation sometimes causes an incurable physical disability. Even if the victim is not alone, his companions are usually safer as compared to the victim. He is still not safe until another companion on the worksite has learned first aid training to cover up the situation. It is a bitter fact that the deaths of the construction workers due to getting injured during their work have increased on a very large scale and the only way to control this death rate is to provide them with first and training.
The very fast steps should be taken with the help of first aid to save human life. In case of fatal accidents, a worker receives a serious situation with a short healing time that helps him to get back to work sooner. Workers at construction places should know the use of an aerial lift, fall protection, hazard communication, scaffolds in construction, and flammable and combustible liquids.
In everybody’s life, the training of first aid is very important. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) established events and services to introduce the highpoints and also presented the World First Aid Day in 2000. The basic purpose of these events and occasions is to support the importance of first aid training not only for employers, trainers, instructors, and employees but also for common human beings. It should be ensured that every worker at the worksite must be trained in these skills to save the precious lives of his fellow companions in the most critical situations.
True north safety (TNS) training company introduces a wide variety of training courses including the construction safety training program and first aid training courses to prevent deaths in emergencies. TNS is the best option for everyone to learn the basic safety training courses related to their job.
Six out of ten deaths can be prevented from basic first aid. Thus, the study found that 30% of people would call an emergency number if they get injured. Around half of the people say that they would wait for emergency service rather than depend on first aid. After calling, people recognize that they are in a chain of survival and do something before the ambulance arrives. Good prevention is to help victims to keep them alive until they go to the hospital. Simply ,turning someone on their side and head back to keep open the airways makes a difference between life and death. Open the airways to reduce the blood loss by pushing rigidly on the side of bleeding until help arrives.
The following steps help to run a long way to reduce the death rate and save human lives:
- The first aid training session must be arranged for every department for current and new hiring workers and their data should be saved for future training.
- Every department must arrange CCTV cameras and workplace hazards sessions and precautions in the workplace to keep an eye on employees.
- First aid boxes must be ready and available for everyone to deal with accidents.
- Use of safety jackets, gloves, and safety gadgets, which is very important and must be enforced strictly.
- The checkpoints and experts must notify the equipment’s conditions.
- Violation of rules must demand a heavy fine or punishment as prevention.
The person who is physically and mentally fit can be a first aider. Enforcement agencies’ employees, workers of industrial and commercial units, and even the common human beings should train in first aid. The trainees should know about cardiopulmonary recovery [CPR], defibrillator, stopping bleeding by pressure or boost, bandaging injuries, keeping a broken limb still, and prevent from the worse conditions.Saving other’s lives is not a little or ordinary thing. Each worker should certify in FAT to fight with any dangerous situation.
